Unsigned Script for Alex, Darrell & Ash show
Broadcast date: 1st April Band - The AV Club Track - Mistakes UK based electro indie pop band The A.V. Club, who will be releasing their new single ‘Mistakes’ on Friday 5th March 2021. ‘Mistakes’ is a cinematic indie pop tune, following last year’s EP ‘Youthful Illusions’ and singles ‘Over U’ and ‘Real Love’. Would really recommend these for fans of The 1975, Fickle Friends and Wallows. They’ve had previous support from John Kennedy at Radio X as one of his ‘Ones To Watch' and they’d really like this single to reach new listeners. Warrington indie pop band The A.V. Club have entered a new phase with their brand new single ‘Mistakes’, out Friday 5th March. Thriving since their very beginning, The A.V. Club have been dropping carefully crafted indie pop bops since early 2020. Their exciting blend of nostalgic electro sounds with modern indie-pop vibes has captured the attention of many, including John Kennedy who tipped them as a ‘One To Watch’ on his Radio X show last year. After an extremely well-received EP ‘Youthful Illusions’, the band swiftly followed it up with singles ‘Over U’ and ‘Real Love’, quenching the thirst of their ever-increasing following. The Warrington quartet are now back with their first offering of 2021, in the form of new single ‘Mistakes’. The single’s hooky synth melodies and catchy chorus pair to create a bittersweet, soaringly cinematic listen. Dubbed as an anthem for reckless young lovers, ‘Mistakes’ follows the story of a person living with regret over a past relationship, reflecting on their heartache and the resulting emotions of letting someone they loved go for no real reason other than being young and reckless. It’s a relatable story; something more people will have experienced than they care to admit. ‘Mistakes’ was written in just a couple of hours, while singer Joe was waiting to go on a night out during the brief period of time the first lockdown was lifted. The full demo, including all instrumentation, was tracked by Joe at his home studio, before it was completed by the full band at Matchbox Studios. Fans of Fickle Friends, Sea Girls, Wallows, Valley, The 1975 and Swim Deep will find their new favourite band with The A.V. Club. ‘Mistakes’ will be available on all streaming and purchasing platforms on Friday 5th March 2021. Find The A.V. The name Pocket Lint refers to the leftover ideas that formed my initial recordings. A feature of my music is a love of ‘Aural Bonbons’: sounds found or created and incorporated into songs. E.P. Two was released in autumn of 2020 and saw the music compared to Bowie, Blur, the Auteurs and Syd Barrett. E.P. Three is built around the cities of Paris and Vienna, the two dominant artistic and cultural hubs at the turn of the last century. The whole E.P. has a sense of noir and the romantic. This romance can be seen in the songs Same old Seine and When Winter Comes Again. Smashing Mirrors borrows a line from Noir classic ‘The Lady from Shanghai’, while opening song Carousel plays with images from bygone childhood Band - Shader Track - Runaway SHADER release their debut Vinyl single “RUNAWAY” on 7” clear vinyl and all digital platforms, on Friday 12th March 2021 Backed with their last digital hit “ True To Life, RUNAWAY showcases an INSTANTLY POWERFUL, FRESH more RAW sound from the band. Their previous CD single, “Time is Right” hit number 2 in the UK Physical singles chart in July 2020 and remained in the top 3 for 3 weeks. Main writer and lyricist Stu Whiston: “Runaway is about the anxiety of everyday life, real vs. fake, the upsurge of talentless TV celebrity culture becoming a legitimate career move and the overwhelming desire to runaway to somewhere with some soul. It was written in a flat in Didsbury, Manchester, I was working at Blockbuster Video, spending all my spare time watching classic films (perks of the job), daytime TV and becoming obsessed with 80’s post-punk band The Sound. The guitar intro & feel are my nod to the genius of Adrian Borland of The Sound” Hailing from Stoke and Manchester, SHADER will set out on a UK tour this August (‘21) and have an album planned. Debut single & video AUBREY PLAZA SMILE available now. Media links below. Saint Martyn is a project born from real pain. Bed ridden from CRPS, the most painful medical condition known to mankind, Saint Martyn took this never-ending pain and channelled it into his debut album: Smile. Smile is a dark musical journey presented from a place of truth. It explores what it is like to live with 24/7 chronic pain and what this can do to a person. Smile's debut single, Aubrey Plaza Smile, is available now. The phrase Aubrey Plaza Smile refers to a fake smile adopted to hide what is really going on beneath the skin. Aubrey Plaza Smile also has a dark and disturbing video featuring a distinctly creepy deepfaked rendition of Aubrey Plaza. Sonically, Smile draws from the bleakness of 90s acts such as Massive Attack, Tricky, Deftones, Nine Inch Nails and the cold chill of 70s acts such as Ultravox!, Joy Division, John Carpenter, Gary Numan and The Human League through the more recent lens of Iamamiwhoami, Zola Jesus and Chelsea Wolfe. Smile is currently scheduled to be released digitally on the 28rd of June 2021. The single Aubrey Plaza Smile, from the album Smile, is currently available on most major streaming services and the video is available on YouTube. Good old guitar indie bringing to mind Bunnymen, REM, The Coral, The La's, James....you get the picture. Our first album, The ache of being, is out in mid July with a taster EP available on Soundcloud on this link only. The band formed in 2017 in Preston, Lancashire with Tim and Mick playing original folk songs together. Once joined by Tony and Simon, the sound broadened to a classic four piece indie guitar sound peppered with harmonic interludes and touched with atmospherics. Think Teardrop Explodes, Echo and the Bunnymen and the La’s, crossed with The National and Fleet Foxes, with a hefty helping of The Smiths. All members of the band have flirted with the limelight, with previous releases on Virgin and Action records and supporting the likes of The Stone Roses, Gene, Hard-fi, The Saw Doctors, The Cleaners from Venus and Bronski Beat. This from poet Paul Cookson: “Perfectly pitched, deftly mixed and immediately accessible, their songs feel like old friends you haven’t seen for ages, or best friends you haven’t yet met. Familiar and warm, but different and alive. High on melody and hooks and low on volume for volume’s sake. Understated and all the more powerful for that.” Mick Shepherd: Lead vocals, guitar, bass Tim Kelly: Guitar, vocals, bass Tony Cornwell : Guitars, bass, atmospheres, vocals, racket Simon Dewhurst: Drums, percussion, vocals The Amber List are: Mick Shepherd-Lead vocal, acoustic guitar, bass Tim Kelly-2nd lead vocal, acoustic guitar, bass Tony Cornwell- lead guitar, BV, bass Simon Dewhurst- Drums, BV, no bass On Soundcloud and Youtube Artist - Finding Aurora Track - The Last Call Finding Aurora are a 4 piece garage rock band from Newport, South Wales. Starting as bedroom project in late 2017. Finding Aurora took to the stage in 2018 and since then have sold out headline shows in Cardiff and Newport to crowds of 100+. They have an enthralling live show which must be seen and are eager toi get back to the live scene as soon as possible. Having already establishing themselves as an incredible live band, with their first ever gig happening in May 2019, at the Dragonffli in Pontypool, they went straight to work and recorded their debut EP with Jeff Rose (Skindred and Dub War). The Ep was well received in all quarters setting the band up for an exciting career. Such an exciting young band, both live and on record, bound to make waves in the scene in the near future. Finding Aurora have an incredibly bright future ahead of them. ABOUT THE SONG 'The Last Call' is about cutting people off who make you feel like nothing and moving ahead and giving them the last call. The song was recorded in February 2020 with Tom Auton at Musicbox studios and his house. For fans of: Foo Fighters, Soundgarden, Queens Of The Stone Age Band - Rilke Track - Have it All 'Have It All' will be released on Friday the 5th March and is our second single from our upcoming debut EP, Zero Days. Just a quick background about the song - This song explores the phenomenon of knowing a romantic situation feels like a lost cause, but holding on to a glimmer of hope that it could still work out. Meanwhile an unshakable sense of pride leads you to ignore your gut feeling, a feeling that is inevitably right. Taking a little artistic license this tale originates in rainy England, transporting the listener on a journey through the glittering night markets of the Middle East to the palm lined boulevards of 00’s Beverly Hills. A song made for blasting through the radio of a classic Cadillac convertible under the rays of the hot sun. Band - 10 Gauge Track - I’m Broken Old-school rock is back... and it gets a contemporary twist from the sensational British hard-rock outfit — 10 GAUGE. Musically and sonically, 10 GAUGE return to the rhetoric and style of the late 1980's & early 1990's to play their exciting brand of rock with the same dedication and inner strength as bands like Metallica, Megadeth and, of course, Iron Maiden. But the 10 GAUGE musicians were raised on a diet of alt-rock, so although they might be inspired by the greats of NWOBHM, they are not obsessed with the notion of trying to reinvent the vintage sounds. So, for example, tough alternative hitters such as Alter Bridge and Black Stone Cherry are big influences on their playing and compositional style. 10 GAUGE believe in making broad-shouldered, hard-wearing, durable rock. They put on a show and they create strapping-great sounds filled with power and melodic perception. The band centres around TJ (lead guitar) and Rob Jewson (vocals) with Kieran Best also on guitar. The lasting rhythmic oomph comes from Gareth Dearing (on bass) and Neil Felgate (on drums). “We're private people,” TJ says “With households to run and family obligations - but we're not building a fortress around our band... On the contrary — we want to sweep-up our audience. We want to bring our fans into our family circle, we want to embrace them.” This promising arena-band, based in Hertfordshire on the outskirts of North London, is already showing signs of great potential. The five-piece create some powerful ballads and scandalously addictive adrenaline pumps of testosterock. Their ingenious intuition and spirited resolution comes from an ingrained sense of companionship. Their credo: toil and graft brings revelry. Their hard-rock/alt-rock numbers, often reminiscent of Maiden-cum-Metallica, have brute force and unbridled energy. It's as if the band possesses unlimited potential. The guys are proud of their work ethic. ”We took our band name from the type of harder-hitting, fret-buzzing, 10-gauge strings we fit onto our guitars... The name adapts well to the nature of our sound because our songs have a high carbon content and a steel core... We believe we play with an exacting consistency and optimal performance — we're never wound too tight.” This work-hard band are united by strong relationships and common interests, and that's how the guys accumulate their energy so efficiently. Their close bond is the fissionable material that gives their songs a distinctive euphoria, a crackling rockiness and, ultimately, that deep emotion. ABOUT THE SONG The song is about taking things for granted, or showing you that you shouldn’t. Takes us through the stereotypical ‘had it all and lost it’ example of bad choices and realising that you need to ask for help to regain control or to move forward, and in the end how asking is not the bad choice it is the correct choice. The main premise is to be able to ask for help when you need it. For fans of: Metallica , Black Stone Cherry, Lynyrd Skynyrd Band - Dead Rituals Track - When the Lights are Out (acoustic, live in Brooklyn) February 2021 - Post-punk / shoegaze outfit Dead Rituals managed to stay quite busy during these crazy times, releasing 2 EPs and a handful of singles. What’s been missing, is some live music. The band shared an intimate acoustic take on their single “When The Lights Are Out.” Recorded in a big stairwell in an old Brooklyn loft, the track features a lush natural reverb and a soothing atmosphere. By contrast, the studio version (available on all platforms) has a layered production with drums, guitars, and other instruments.
